Yet surprisingly, quite a number of them are on Facebook (including the entire School Board), so you might want to sign up and ask them to invite you to be their Facebook "friend" so you can text-message them...especially if you're busy and can't make it to their monthly public meetings to express your concerns about their questionable governance (TC, PB) and give them your unsolicited feedback. Clearly, they don't want to make things easy for YOU, so why not make things easy for THEM? Isn't it time to start holding these no-account public officials more accountable to the public (i.e., the 99.99% who don't attend their monthly meetings or socialize with them after hours at the Chesterfield Inn)? How about making them open the lines of communication, engage the public by providing their e-mail addresses, and level the playing field for all residents who want to contact them, not just the folks on their Facebook Friends & Family Network? Of course, if you're already in the network, please ignore this post. You can contact them directly whenever you want. P.S. According to Google Analytics statistics, Facebook generates more traffic-source referrals to ChesterfieldNewJersey.com than any other referring website. Thanks for visiting, township officials! If you want to discuss business you go through business channels, which in this case means meetings. If you can't make the meeting, send someone else. I agree they should have mailboxes set up for business purposes. But lets not harrass these people in their personal lives. |

Top | Reply Title: highlighting, not harassing Author: WR Lamboy Date Posted: 05 Nov 2009 08:18 AM (GMT -05:00) I was trying to highlight the fact that these public officials are tech-savvy enough to use Facebook as a communications tool, yet they don't bother to post their official email addresses online, the simplest, least obtrusive way for them to open up a two-way line of communication with the public (which they have no interest in doing, obviously). It's ironic that you can post your point of view on this online forum, yet neither the Township Committee, Planning Board or School Board provide you or the public with a comparable opportunity to communicate with them directly. You'll have to attend their meetings or "send someone else" on your behalf to speak your piece. Take a look at the latest meeting minutes of the Planning Board: a local resident showed up for the meeting but was told by the attorney to submit her questions in writing. What's the point of attending their meetings or sending someone else if they tell you to put it in writing? Isn't that what email is for? http://www.chesterfieldtwp.com/Planning%20Board/PBSept0809.htm |

We agree on the principle you are trying to highlight but I disagree with your tactic. |

Author: Jim Miller Date Posted: 31 Dec 2009 05:40 AM (GMT -05:00) These parasites in power have no expectation of privacy when they post their information on an open, public website. Since they have their information out there then maybe then would also like to discourse about Chesterfield on Facebook since they certainly do not want to in open govt. forum or via email. |

Top | Reply Title: What? Author: Jim Miller Date Posted: 31 Dec 2009 05:47 AM (GMT -05:00) Are you kidding. These parasites have no problem harassing the residents via govt. channels, through taxes and code enforcement etc...There is no expectation of privacy on Facebook if they have an open profile then they want to be contacted. If they don\t want to deal with the public then maybe they should not be in office. Oh that's right they don't deal with the public...i.e.no email and written questions at a public meeting. What a joke! |

From today's BCT: "In Chesterfield on Monday morning, Republican incumbent Michael J. Hlubik was sworn in to a three-year term on the Township Committee. Brian Kelly was appointed mayor and Lawrence Durr deputy mayor. All professional appointments remained the same. Committee meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building on Bordentown-Chesterfield Road." |

Top | Reply Title: How about a change of GOVT. Author: Jim Miller Date Posted: 06 Jan 2010 06:24 AM (GMT -05:00) This rotating form of govt. needs to be changes and can be. I am sure you realize that they are only serving their individual interests by being on the planning board and township committee. It is unfortunate that these criminals are not challenged by anyone... |

Top | Reply Title: email addresses Author: WR Lamboy Date Posted: 13 Jan 2010 04:34 PM (GMT -05:00) Township Committeemen are finally posting their email addresses. Welcome to the 1990s, guys! Mayor Brian Kelly, bkelly@chesterfieldtwp.com Deputy Mayor Lawrence Durr, ldurr@chesterfieldtwp.com Michael Hlubik, mhlubik@chesterfieldtwp.com Maybe the School Board will follow suit. The Chesterfield Elementary School website posts the email addresses of the custodial staff but not the board. What's up with that? |
